NYCEDC Disparity Study

NYCEDC Disparity Study

WELCOME

New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is conducting a comprehensive Disparity Study (Study), led by MGT Impact Solutions (MGT).  The overall purpose of the Disparity Study is to understand the effects of race, ethnicity, and gender on real estate developers’ ability to acquire capital or bonding and conduct (or attempt to conduct) real estate transactions in New York City, including within the public and private sectors.

As part of that process, NYCEDC will collect data regarding the utilization of real estate development firms owned by minorities and women, and the availability of these firms in NYCEDC’s marketplace. In addition to analyses of quantitative data, the Disparity Study will also examine qualitative data regarding discriminatory barriers or behaviors (to the extent that it exists) provided by developers, professional organizations, and other marketplace stakeholders.

We encourage ALL developers to provide information about their experiences conducting or attempting to conduct real estate transactions and business deals with NYCEDC and other public or private entities. We hope that all real estate developers will participate in this important study. For ways to get involved, please see the “Business Engagement” page below.
